Welcome to my little corner of the internet! I am so happy to have you.
I am a product manager, soon to be grad student, who spends my days working with teams to build novel healthcare technology. When I’m not pestering engineers, I like puttering around my kitchen and exploring New York City, where I live. While I’d like to think I’ve developed a bit of an east coast edge while living here (to keep things spicy!), I am a midwesterner through and through and love my hometown of Cincinnati, OH. As you may have guessed, my name is Shannon. I tacitly comply with being called Shanimal by select family, friends…and apparently now…bloggoers!
I have always had a…errmm…healthy…appreciation for food. My sisters who frequently caught me sneaking chocolate into my childhood room and former rowing teammates who I shared post-practice breakfasts with attest that I enjoy a good meal. However, it wasn’t until I studied abroad in college and took a break from my crazy rowing schedule that I had time or reason to cook for myself. Cooking quickly became my nightly ritual to pause to enjoy the day and catch up with people over a meal.
Since those days of fumbling around my tiny Edinburgh apartment kitchen, cooking has become a happy part my day. As I’ve learned through trial and (many) error(s) in other tiny kitchens, I’ve realized how accessible and creative cooking can be. I started this blog in hopes of sharing this everyday joy and my related adventures.
